For any activities, be it for a relaxing holiday, wellness, active holiday, or more, the village of Badenweiler offers a lot, so that everyone can feel comfortable.
Badenweiler is located in the heart of the Markgräflerland, in the southern Black Forest. Nestled at the foot of the "house-mountain" Blauen, surrounded by vineyards and the foothills of the Black Forest, with stunning views of the Rhine valley and the Vosges in France.
The spa-village itself has more than 2,000 years of history. This is evident, among other things, by the Roman bath ruins in the spa gardens. Already the Romans knew about the healing and beneficial effects of the thermal water and used it gladly. But also the castle Baden is an indication for the long history of Badenweiler.
The location of Badenweiler is also an advantage in climatic terms. The shielding in the east against the cold continental climate through the mountains of the Black Forest favors the warm air currents from the southwest. This can be cultivated in the wine-growing region of the Markgräflerland including grape varieties such as Burger and Chasselas, which occur only in this area of Germany. The climatic advantages are also reflected in the approximately 22-hectare Kurpark Badenweilers, which was created around 250 years ago on the model of English gardens. Here you can find impressive sequoias as well as palm trees, which are one of the few in Germany to survive the winter outdoors.
Badenweiler is over 400 meters above sea level. More than 4,000 inhabitants live in an area of more than 13 square kilometers. The connection to the infrastructure is more than optimal with the motorway A5, as well as the railway network Basel (CH) - Müllheim (Baden) -Freiburg, the Euro-Airport Basel and the bus stop "Vitteler Platz" in front of the Park Hotel & Spa KATHARINA.
